We’re going north (and south)

I’ve recently been in discussions with a potential client in Leeds, who’s looking for outstanding financial management for their company.

It doesn’t sound unusual…

…But for us it is, in one way at least.

Before the pandemic, we normally only worked with companies within 50 miles of us.

Even though we are – and always have been – a remote service, we always wanted to be within easy driving distance of our clients. We felt it was important to meet face-to-face as often as possible, so there was a geographical restriction.

The pandemic has changed our and our clients’ perceptions of what’s possible.

We used to maintain contact with our clients over the phone, talking to most of them several times a week – if not daily!

Now we’re on the webcam all day long instead.

Nothing has changed in the level of service we give our clients. We’ve always aspired to become an integral part of their operation. But this feels even easier and closer – it really does feel like we’re in our clients’ offices.

As a result, we’re willing to consider clients we would never even entertain before, simply because of their location.

Don’t get me wrong. I still believe that in-person meetings are best – especially as we revamped our meeting rooms right before lockdown!

Over the past couple of months we’ve made a great effort to get back to physical meetings and it’s been an absolute pleasure. The difference in the quality of discussion and connection is palpable.

So we’ll always try and meet our clients in person, whenever feasible.

But everyone’s much more open to remote ways of working nowadays, and we finally all have the technology to make it feel smooth. So at the same time, it’s much easier to expand our geographical reach.

The lessons here?

  1. Over the past year-and-a-half, we’ve talked a lot about looking for the opportunities created by crisis. I think that the example of my own company shows that the opportunities are still ongoing.

Yes, the immediate crisis is over, but the economy, the workforce and the workplace are still adjusting – and we may be feeling the tremors for some time.

Do not stop looking for those opportunities…

…And most of all, do not get stuck in static ways of working, falling back into comfortable routines. This is still a time of change and you need to be mentally open to it, if not looking for it.
  2. If you’re considering a change to your financial management, we’re now an option for you – wherever you are in the UK.

So if you’re turning over £1-2 million and would like help growing to £5 million, £10 million or beyond, please do get in touch today and let’s talk about how we can help you.

Warmly,

Garry
