Better Teams

Thomas International - Making people profitable

  • Do your people make a difference to your business?
  • Are they motivated and do you know what motivates them?
  • What management style will bring out the best in them?

These are all questions that YOU, as the business owner, need to know.

A recent CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development) survey shows that it costs UK companies between 6,125 and 9,000 to recruit a new employee and complete induction training for them - that's without the cost of any job training they require. That's why it's vital you get this process right - that's where Thomas comes in.

How can Thomas help my business?

The Thomas International system of personality and behavioural analysis enables managers to better understand and develop their teams and increase motivation. Insight Associates is able to deliver the Thomas technique as Certified Practitioners of the system.

By understanding your existing employees better you might not need to recruit to replace that disenchanted employee in the first place and with staff turnover averaging 15.7% across the UK in 2009 it only goes to prove that this is an area that is all too often overlooked.

The benefits of the Thomas system:

  • Recruitment and retention
  • Benchmarking
  • Training
  • Career Planning
  • Appraisal
  • Team Building

The tools are immensely helpful in situations where groups of people are perhaps not working well together for the common goal, as they give a greater understanding of the stresses and issues that are present.

It also highlights where there may be conflicts or difficulties and perhaps the reasons for these, and thereby assist in their resolution.

Many businesses suffering financial distress or other difficulties (including rapid growth!) will rely very heavily on their people to get through this phase, however they are often dysfunctional as teams (and may even be the cause of the business's predicament!). The Thomas system can significantly aid the process of highlighting these problem areas, ultimately enabling us to focus on ways of resolving them.

The Personal Profile Analysis (PPA):

Central to the Thomas system, the PPA provides insight into how people behave at work answering questions such as:

  • What are their strengths and limitations?
  • Are they self-starters?
  • How do they communicate?
  • What motivates them?

The PPA system enables people to become aware of their work styles, and thereby also improve the effectiveness of people management through greater understanding of why people behave the way they do.

The power of the PPA increases still further when matched to other Thomas tools such as Job Profiling, which is a profile of the behavioral requirements of a job. With this it can be seen if the individual “fits” the role. Other tools assist in team building and profiling and benchmarking.

The cost of a PPA analysis can be as little as 125 per person, with discounts available for numbers of 4 or more.

Alternatively if the volume of personnel justifies it we would encourage our client to train with Thomas to deliver the system to their businesses themselves.
