In the latest instalment of our Meet the Team feature, we are delighted to introduce Simon, our Client Services Director. Simon is an invaluable member of the Insight team, having joined the company in 2003. But who is Simon and what does he do? Read on to find out!
Simon’s journey
Simon joined the client delivery team at Insight after graduating from Plymouth University with a “high achiever” degree in Accounting & Finance. During his first few years with us, he completed his ACCA qualification then began to climb the ranks. Simon considers this progression to be a personal highlight – “I’m really proud of working my way up from Finance Assistant to being responsible for client delivery for the company”. Twenty years later, Simon continues to be an asset to the company.
The highs
Simon most enjoys “speaking to people and the feeling of helping clients achieve what they want with their own businesses.” He also loves getting into the finer detail with clients – “I enjoy how deeply I am involved with the inner-workings of RLE International Group, as engineering is an industry I am particularly interested in.”
Having worked at Insight for over two decades now, Simon has had an opportunity to witness the long-term, positive impact that his work has had. “Over the years, a number of clients have achieved growth and control in their businesses, allowing them to fulfil their own personal aims and, in some cases, sell and get rich!”
Life at Insight
We asked Simon what he appreciates most about Insight’s company culture. “There’s a real sense of team ethos throughout the business” he explains. “Everyone is happy and comfortable at work and enjoys being there”.
Simon is a very busy man, who is usually spinning lots of plates. On a typical day, “I am first one in the office, I will have various calls with clients, fit in some internal admin, then am normally the last one to leave at the end of the day.”
As you can tell, Simon works very hard!
A favourite moment
Simon has worked closely with many clients over the years, but there are always one or two special cases that stick in the mind. For Simon, it’s Paralaw. “We became involved when the business was in an insolvency arrangement and owed a lot of money to HMRC. With our support and guidance, they paid off their debt in full – and a year early. After a number of years of continued support from us, the three owner/directors sold their business to a corporate buyer.”
Now the fun part…
A fun fact about Simon? “I am left-footed but right-handed. As is my son!” And if Simon was ever stranded on a desert island, he’s got quite the luxurious life planned “I would take my partner and son, a record player and my vinyl collection, plus some good, spiced rum.”
That sounds tempting, Simon – we might have to join you!
