Then and now – Amy Bridger

On the anniversary of her joining Insight Associates, our latest Then and Now feature puts Amy Bridger, our Finance Assistant, in the hot seat. Amy is a friendly, kind and cheerful presence around the office, and freely admits she’s a huge softie! Here she discusses her arrival at Insight, her biggest challenges and her ambitions for career development.

  1. Where were you in your career when you joined Insight Associates?

Before settling into my role with Insight, I was an Accounts Assistant. Having worked in that role for two different companies previously, I found Insight!

  2. What was your job title when you started vs. now?

I started working with Insight in 2014 as an Office Assistant, an administration role where I was introduced to bookkeeping skills. After spending some time away to develop my finance skills, I rejoined the team. My role was Finance Assistant then, and that is my title now too.

  3. What is the biggest thing you’ve learned at Insight Associates?

Working at Insight has taught me a lot of different things. One particularly important lesson has been how to manage my time efficiently. When there are so many competing priorities, it is important to understand which tasks to prioritise.

  4. What has been your biggest challenge?

For me, the biggest learning curve has been stepping up from helping others with bits of client work to taking on the majority of work for a client and being their first port of call. It’s a challenge… but also so rewarding.

  5. What were your career aspirations when you were younger? Have they changed?

To be honest, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do until I landed in the Accounts Assistant role a decade ago. Now my aspirations are to finish my exams and keep improving in my role, to be able to take on more challenging work.

  6. What is your biggest professional highlight of the past year?

Taking care of a client on my own, as well as taking on the responsibility of completing most of the work for a few different clients and being their main port of call. I took on work for an audit, which I hadn’t been involved with before. When I have received positive feedback, that has been a real highlight!

  7. What are you most looking forward to about the year ahead?

At Insight the time flies by, as there is always plenty to keep us busy. Looking ahead, I want to keep learning and continue to take on more responsibility.

  8. What has changed for you personally since joining Insight Associates?

The biggest change has definitely been having my second baby girl, Millie, in 2023. I took some time off for maternity leave and am now juggling working and being a mum to Millie, as well as Ella, my first born.
