One of the most frequent messages I hear from business owners is their desire for a “proactive accountant.” They want someone who will actively engage with them, offering insightful ways to improve their business finances, rather than just showing up at tax time or year-end.
If you’ve been following my emails, you know that this is an ambitious ask for many accountants. Most traditional accounting setups simply aren’t designed for this level of service, for reasons I go into here, here and here.
But we are.
Our outsourced finance department is built to be the proactive partner you’ve been looking for. By serving as your finance function, we don’t just provide accurate, timely figures; we work alongside you daily, to enhance your financial performance and propel your business forward.
Our team of finance managers are a cornerstone of this proactive approach. You may already know Cara, who has been instrumental in supporting our clients. Today, I’m excited to introduce you to Charlotte Tarran, the newest member of our senior team.
Charlotte is a qualified accountant, but she’s not going to be the number-cruncher in your business. Rather, her primary role is to understand your business intimately. She’ll be onboarding new clients and getting to know their business model, industry, unique challenges, and team dynamics. Later she will manage these client relationships.
Why is this so critical? It’s because being proactive is about more than just delivering data; it’s about providing strategic advice that can transform your financial operations.
We can only do this effectively by understanding your business at a deep level – something most accountants never do.
Charlotte’s close ties with our clients will ensure we can become your go-to advisor, helping you interpret your financial figures, challenging assumptions where necessary, and advising on strategies for growth and profitability. It’s key to adding value.
Charlotte brings a wealth of experience from senior commercial roles across various sectors.
She has managed a $40 million factory build and operational finance for a dessert manufacturer, acted as a liaison between UK franchisees and head office in Australia for a food company, and worked in both high school and local government finance.
Her diverse background means she doesn’t just understand finance, but how organisations work.
In Charlotte’s own words, “I’m excited to look at companies’ individual needs and find bespoke solutions for them, supporting them as best I can. It really aligns with the way I like working. I want to be the person you come to with any financial issue, so I can provide different ideas to solve problems you might have been grappling with for a while and offer a useful outside perspective.”
So if you’re ready for a more proactive approach to accounting, please get in touch with us today. Our entire team, including Charlotte, is here to work hand-in-hand with you, to drive your business forward.
