In this next instalment of our Meet the Team feature, we’re introducing you to our wonderful Assistant Finance Manager, Mihaela, who joined us in September 2023. She may be a newer member of the team, but Mihaela has already made a significant impact on the work we do at Insight Associates.
Back to the beginning
Mihaela has always had a flare for numbers. “My greatest strengths have always been my attention to detail and analytical abilities,” she reflects. This talent led her to attend the Academy of Economic Studies in Romania, where she grew up. Always eager to enhance her knowledge, it was there that she discovered “a strong desire to learn and excel at problem solving.” Some years later, Mihaela decided that her education had not finished, so continued her professional development and obtained a BSc (Hons) Finance and Accounting degree from Anglia Ruskin University.
The best bits
Mihaela is an excellent problem solver, and some of her favourite parts of the job are “analysing numbers and working with clients.” She adds, “I enjoy rising to new challenges and resolving any queries that might arise.” We askedMihaela what she would like to change about her job, but she couldn’t think of anything! “I really love and enjoy what I am doing and all the new things I am learning every day.”
A day in Mihaela’s life
On a typical day in Mihaela’s life, she wakes up bright and early at 6:30am to take her son to nursery before travelling to work. On arrival at the office, “I start checking my emails and preparing the to-do list for the day along with a nice hot cup of coffee.” Each working day might look different, but Mihaela always looks forward to something challenging landing on her desk. She often gets so absorbed that when she looks up at the clock, it’s already 5pm! “The days are flying but in a nice way, because I am enjoying them.”
A highlight from Mihaela’s career prior to Insight was participating in a charity event in aid of children with cancer or terminal illness. “There was one special girl who had a brain tumour, and they had a target of how much money they needed to raise to improve or to try to save her life. We helped as much as we could, and that girl had a chance of going in USA to have the intervention. Thanks to that, she is alive today. Being kind doesn’t cost anything.”
Desert island essentials
Mihaela tells us that, being in a foreign country so far away from her family, she can feel lonely at times. But we really hope that, with the support of the Insight team, she feels a little less alone during her working days.
If she was stranded on a desert island, Mihaela would choose a very practical necessity to get her through it. “An endless supply of drinking water, essential for me to survive and come back home to my babies.”
