Our latest Then and Now feature introduces Vikki Curzon, Finance Assistant at Insight Associates. From her childhood career ambitions to greatest hopes for the year ahead, in this post, Vikki reflects on her professional journey to Insight and what she loves best about her job.
- Where were you in your career when you joined Insight Associates?
When I joined Insight, I really was at the very beginning of my career! Although I’d worked in finance before, it was from a banking perspective, rather than an accounting one. - What was your job title when you started vs. now?
I was initially employed as a ‘Client Services Administrator’ on a part-time basis. After a while, I became a Finance Administrator and now I’m a full time Finance Assistant. - What is the biggest thing you’ve learned at Insight Associates?
Of all the many lessons, perhaps the most significant has been that I have learned that I am capable of a lot more than I thought I was. Throughout my time at Insights, my managers have always believed in me and given me responsibilities that even now surprise me! - What has been your biggest challenge?
Unlearning finance from a banking point of view. Having previously worked in banking, it was something of a culture shock to be encountering finance from the accounting perspective. Things are quite different from an accounts angle! - What were your career aspirations when you were younger? Have they changed?
Ideally, I wanted to marry rich and be a full-time dog mum. Or a zookeeper! But Insight will do – it’s often like a zoo in here but smells nicer. - What is your biggest professional highlight of the past year?
Forging relationships with clients. It is so rewarding to build these enduring professional relationships, and I like to think they feel safe in my hands. - What are you most looking forward to about the year ahead?
Huge bonuses and pay rises 😉 And seeing our clients win, of course. - What has changed for you personally since joining Insight Associates?
My children have gone from being little and fairly cute, to actual grown ups with degrees, incredible social lives and jobs – and they have turned into pretty good people!
