Tudors, war chests and pyramids – oh my!

I know it’s traditional to look ahead around New Year’s…

But over the last few hours, I’ve been looking backwards.

To be precise, I’ve been looking over all my emails from the past year.

We’ve covered so much – from building up your business’s financial resilience to the financial lessons of the late Queen’s jubilee.

And along the way I’ve told you about my fascination with the Tudors, problems with my electric car, how I’m about to become a grandfather, the man I consider the key to my success, and so much more.

I’ve hugely enjoyed sharing my best tips and stories with you, and hope you’ve not only enjoyed reading them – but found them useful for your business growth, too.

Here are my favourite 5 pieces from the past year, just in case you missed them… or would like to revisit – enjoy!

>> Your business plan for 2030. If you’re doing a spot of planning for 2023, read this first! I explain why planning ahead for one year isn’t enough – you need a plan for the next five and 10 years, too. Read more here.

>> Rich vs King. You can retain complete control of your company – or you can make a lot of money from it. But you can’t do both. Discover why here.

>> Don’t believe these 3 myths. As I studied the Tudors I discovered that some of the best-known ‘facts’ about them were actually myths. That led me to write about the three biggest myths business owners believe, about how to manage their money. Discover the 3 myths here.

>> The financial pyramid – where does your business sit? You can’t build an outstanding finance department for your company if you have no idea what excellence looks like. A great finance department is like a pyramid… Click here to read more.

>> War chest. What steps do you need to take to prepare your business for a very difficult winter, with a huge external financial crisis engulfing us? Start here

Thank you again for being a reader. I do not take this for granted and genuinely appreciate every single person who takes the time. And an even bigger thank you to all the writers – the recipients of my emails who write back with thoughts, suggestions, feedback and stories of their own! My emails were always meant to be the beginning of a two-way conversation, not a monologue, and when that happens I find it immensely valuable and rewarding. I hope you do too.

And please do drop me a line if you have any suggestions for future topics (financial management related, of course). As I said, I’d love to hear from you!

Happy new year – and here’s to a fantastic 2023.

Warmly,

Garry
